About Woodlands on the Creek Homeowners Association

Picture
General Meetings of the Woodlands on the Creek Homeowners Association ("WOCHA") are held quarterly during the third week of January, April, July and October of each calendar year. Annual membership dues are $50.  There are currently 85 custom homes in Woodland on the Creek. Our neighborhood consists of 86 lots, thus one vacant lot is available for purchase/building.

Every year WOCHA has an annual picnic in May or June, where we enjoy great barbecue, visiting with our neighbors while the children play on a bouncer and the adults enjoy a good game of horseshoes and volleyball. In August, the National Night Out on Crime occurs and we get together at the bridge.  At Christmas, we decorate our homes, decorate the bridge to add to the festive atmosphere, and have the Holiday Lights Walk and Hospitality House where we visit with our neighbors and enjoy refreshments. All of these activities give us an opportunity to get to know our neighbors better and form the lasting friendships that keep us being good neighbors.

WOCHA gives a grant annually to a school in our district  (Amber Terrace Elementary, Cockrell Hill Elementary, The Meadows Elementary, Frank D. Moates Elementary, Northside Elementary, Woodridge Elementary, Ruby Young Elementary, DeSoto East Middle School, Curtistene S. McCowan Middle School, DeSoto West Middle School, DeSoto Freshman Campus and DeSoto Senior High School) to try to give back to our community. We check with the schools to find out their needs, and then vote on which school we want to give the money to each year.

WOCHA recently joined the City’s Adopt-A-Street program by adopting the Roy Orr Trail, which passes along the perimeter of our neighborhood (behind the homes on Plantation Drive).

WOCHA works together to raise our level of activity and involvement in our neighborhood and our community.
